Suggestion to actively fight botters

Post by MaxBlue01 » Thu Sep 08, 2022 5:45 pm

I know i'm just making a copy/paste of what i said in another thread, but might as well start another thread about this idea i have. I made few modifications though.

This might be too early to suggest something like this, but might as well try.

Back in HH, there was a dedicated "PvP" server, where anyone can attack anyone else anywhere. In some cases, this helped some high level grinders against afk farmers.

I am NOT suggesting a PvP server in Eliatopia (not now anyway). However, since botters are only reported by "witnesses", how about we make those witness more "usefull"? Here is my idea: everyone (like Player A) can send a PvP duel to anyone they meet (like Player B).
- If player B refuse the challenge (by PHYSICALLY clicking "No"): there will be no PvP fight, and player A must wait a bit before challenging anyone else again (to prevent challenges spam).
- If player B accept, both player A and player B can attack eachother. Surrounding enemies can STILL attack both players, however, others players can't attack the 2 players (although "spectators" playrs can still block their movements).

Winner of the duel get coins and 1 random equipment, like he was "robbing'" the loser (need discussion about this. another idea is if both players agree on the rewards of the duel, including friendly duel with no rewards. Like player A choose rewards types and player B can negotiate the rewards). And during the duel, neither player can change area. To prevent stale-mate, there must be a duel time limit (maybe 5 minutes?). If one of the players log out / refresh during the duel (likely because ragequit), that player will still die and will still lose money / equipment. However, we must be careful to be sure to differentiate intentionnal log outs and unpredictable servers crashes.

What's that have to do with botting? Well, player B actually have a time limit to answer the challenge (for exemple 1 min). If after the time limit, player B haven't answered, the duel START. Meaning player A (the active player) will fight a botter (player B) that is passive, and usually easy to attack (lightning storm and other big range skills might still be a problem). Since player B did no input for the duel challenge AND for the rewards list, that mean player B would lose whatver player A choose for the duel rewards (which theoretically can be everything equipped + money. Not full inventory.)

Few notes to be aware:
- From HH experience with PvP server, it is a very bad idea to allow PvP literally everywhere. A few areas should be made without PvP possible. In Eliatopia, those "PvP-free areas" should be: all the main shops, the 3 main cities (even though tepplar village have some enemies), inside normal building / houses (this does NOT include inside sewer, caves and factories).

- To prevent very high level players from botting (when currently they take no / extremly low damage), maybe force both players to deal at least 1 dmg every attack (exception: gunners deal 1 dmg every 4-8 bullets depending of gun used, to prevent exploit), and to remove HP regen (at least at last 1-2 minutes of the duel?).

That's not helpful for the discussion. Either you have something pertinent to say, or you go troll somewhere else.

I'm trying to make a DISCUSSION, in order to DISCUSS the idea. I'm fine if you agree with my idea, if you have problems with my idea (which should be argumented), or if you have questions.

Again, this is a SUGGESTION, not an order for Robby. That being said, i do believe my ideas (not just this one, check my other threads) are much more pertinent and actually usefull for this game currently (compared to adding yet another expansive as heck sets, or adding random pets that won't do much, or adding a random class / skill). Maybe the 0.1% very high level players want some extra content, but the rest can't even reach that point. The new / normal players aren't really enjoying this and are stuck doing the same thing at the same area for like 95% of their gameplay, while the rest of the 5% is also screwed by high level players (especially trading control). Reminder for everyone: the game is currently broken left and right. This include: obviously flawed designs, blatant oversights, unfair balance, broken economy that literally favors the extremly rich people (while screwing new / normal players completely), and shameless attempts at scamming players. Kids should really learn the difference between what they "need" and what sound cool (but unobtainable) (regardless of how silly it is).

As a "developer", Robby shouldn't focus on making "empty" updates that gives the illusion Robby "make" updates, while it does pretty much nothing to FIX the major game problems. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying Robby is completely lazy. There ARE bugfixes and others things i'm fine it was added. But i'm saying it doesn't feel "enough" overall. It's more often minor problems being "fixed" (and sometimes, it's an attempt), while some major problems are being ignored (some for a very long time. And the more it wait, the worse it gets).
