Wandering Merchant + Phones

While store closures worked in Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing New Horizons made a 24/7 workaround with the Nook Stop and a Nook Phone app, plus there is a drop box that allows you to sell items to the shop. Eliatopia's current day-night cycle leans more towards Animal Crossing's, obviously, though there is yet to be a workaround to shop closures; not one that is as player-friendly as Animal Crossing's workarounds anyway. As such, I've came up with a concept that would allow players to work around shop closures, especially since I've yet to see a reason for needing to climb up the ladder near Brip's.
WANDERING MERCHANTS!
No, not the scammers from Minecraft that call themselves "wandering merchants;" everyone knows villagers scam people. These guys are NPCs spawning at night for the purpose of selling things blocked off by closed shops. While I don't want them to outshine shops, there still needs to be a way to make them useful. As such, I'm thinking that wandering merchants would have this: 20 items. This should allow room for 4 helmets, 4 armors, 4 pairs of legwear, 4 pairs of shoes, and 4 weapons. All twenty items would be randomized, switching around every 24 hours; however, they would all come from a select store (ex. Brip's).
This should allow the game to retain its more Animal Crossing-esque mechanics while providing players workarounds that made Animal Crossing's shop closure mechanic work out well on their end. And yes, I know my inspirations.
That aside, here's a set of phones:
They're rotary phones because those are cool. Having watched a lotta old cartoons when I was a kid, like Tom and Jerry and all that, I know that you have to push the turntable around to dial a phone with those things. I wouldn't exactly imagine Eliatopians having cell phones or knowing what they are, so there's that.
Also, here's a species of Grunt I've designed for the sake of giving people a reason for Ice Runes to exist: the Yeti.:
So yeah, there's that.

Hmm, Nice job, I think the Yeti would be great, even potentially as a boss.
On a side note I didn't know animal crossing was so complex

Yeah. Even the simplest of games can be turned good just with a little complexity. Just look at Super Mario Bros. At its core, its a platformer where you just move left and right and jump, but there's a small semblance of a plot in the form of an ending, plus the fire flower served as a reward for good gameplay.
Re: Wandering Merchant + Phones
Maybe the phone idea would be like an item that you would buy and whenever you would see a botter you would use it to report them instead of using the forums. Re: Wandering Merchant + Phones
YES, then the phones get removed from the game just like the clock was, but this time i'll keep it until years later then sell it as a "rare" item and get hella moneys =D
Re: Wandering Merchant + Phones
I'll have to keep the wondering merchants idea in mind when I eventually get some free time for considering something like that.
Other than that though, the phone would make a nice ambient object for the dozens of buildings coming to Alion City! The ice ogre is pretty cool too!
