I don't know what else more i could say other than
If you aren't using Unitys build in UI then youre making it harder on yourself.
With Unity's UI you can have the stats window (including death window, any UI window is what im pointing towards) can be saved as a prefab while then only instantiate when you hit the button then destroy when the window is exited.
Or have the UI windows within the hierarchy disabled and only enabled then you clickon buttons and disabled when exited. This will prevent this kind of issue because the window is simply not even active or its been destroyed.
